Central Library Participates in a specialized conference to keep pace with global developments in Provision of Best Services to Female Students and Researchers


Ms. Hanan Farouk Muhammad, Librarian in charge of the Central Library at Al-Zahraa University for Women, participated in the activities of the second specialized international conference on information and libraries, which was organized by the Holy Shrine of Imam Al-Abbas in cooperation with the Universities of Al-Mustansiriya, Mosul, and Basra. This conference is considered one of the most prominent scientific conferences in the field of libraries and information, which aims to enhance innovation and knowledge exchange between academic institutions and university libraries in Iraq and the region.

As part of her participation, Ms. Hanan Farouk affirmed that Al-Zahraa University was always committed to providing outstanding and advanced services that fulfilled the needs of female students and researchers. Such variety of services were intended, as underscored by Ms. Farouk, to keep pace with the latest developments in global university libraries, starting with the latest paper books and international publishing houses with their latest editions, as well as electronic books through huge and diverse libraries, offering thousands of titles and references in addition to training on the use of academic databases, to supporting scientific research via modern tools that facilitate information access.

Dr. Marwan Abdul Razzaq, the representative of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Head of the University Library Development Division in the Research and Development Department, attended the conference along with Prof. Dr. Saif Abdullah Al-Jabri, Regional Director for the Middle East and North Africa at the International Federation of Library and Information Associations (IFLA MENA). Dr. Al-Jabri gave a lecture on the latest trends in university library management and the importance of technology in efficiency enhancement and service development thereof. He also underlined support extension to all university libraries that seek to develop their services according to an advanced global perspective.

For its part, the Presidency of Al-Zahraa University for Women confirms its intention to benefit from the conference outcomes with a view to upgrade its Central Library performance and services with a special focus on the ongoing application of best international practices used in advanced university libraries. Moreover, the Library aims to be a pioneer in its field, by updating its technical infrastructure and developing its personnel in a way that contributes to improving the level of services provided to female students and faculty members in particular and those interested in cultural affairs in general.
