Al-Zahraa University accepts a literary invitation at the Karbala Center for Studies and Research


Al-Zahraa University accepted an invitation to attend a literary session to honor the literary poet (Awda Dahi Al-Tamimi), which was organized by the Karbala Center for Studies and Research at the Holy Shrine of Imam Hussein.
Ms. Hanan Farouk Al-Saadi, head of the Central Library Division, representing the university attended the session, which shed light on the poet’s literary life, full of significant accomplishments, focusing in
particular on his distinguished style that transpires obviously in his poems dedicated to Imam Hussein. Several illustrious guests, poets and intellectuals such as Mr. Salam Al-Bannai, the head of the branch of the Union of Authors and Writers in Karbala were among the participants in the session.
It is noticeable that Al-Tamimi has published 15 books and poetry compilations during his literary career. His poetry collections, half of which were classical poetry and the other half folk poetry, included a special collection of devotional poetry entitled (Lighting Candles), which is a compilation of religious poems devoted to the reverence of the Most Noble Prophet (PBUH). A substantial part of his poems is dedicated to the elegy of those who concentrate in their poems on the seal of the Prophets (PBUH) and his household, including poets and pioneers who left our world in their departure to the side of their Lord
Poet Awda Dahi Al-Tamimi who is a member of the Union of Iraqi and Arab Writers and a member of the Iraqi Journalists Syndicate was born in Karbala in 1948. He wrote religious pulpit poems since 1967. He also worked as an editor of the literary pages in a number of Iraqi newspapers.
